This is a demonstration of a newly-discovered feature that has been incorporated into the ESU decoder line, Motor Auto-Tune. This is a really cool feature that allows you to fine tune the KPI parameters of the ESU LokPilot and LokSound v4.0 and Select decoders. The process is incredibly simple and the results are typically super smooth and super slow motor performance.

How to Set Up Auto-Tune
Set up is very easy.
If you have a LokProgrammer or use DecoderPro software, make a note of the current values in CV 51 through 56 of the project loco.
Place the locomotive on a clear, straight section of track at least (4) feet long. Be sure the current selected direction is forward. When you initiate the procedure, the loco will take off at full speed instantly in the last direction of travel.
Simply set the value of CV54 = 0. Return to operations mode, and select function key F1. The loco will take off on it own and travel a few feet. When it comes to a stop, the bell will be ringing so select F1 again to turn it off.
When the loco stops, give it a test run. If necessary adjust CV53 to improve performance. Start at a value of 120 and work up or down until it runs smoother and slower than any other loco in your fleet.
