The ESU 54680 RailCom Transmitter Unit works as is with any RailCom-compatible system.
This statement is confirmed by spec but never tested or proven by me. It was tested
and proven by ESU, LLC at my request and confirmed the module works flawlessly with ECoS and CabControl command stations.
Since the ESU 54680 RailCom Transmitter Unit does not have the hardware support for traditional programming it is not
clear but basically all it does is "catch" an address being
programmed to a decoder since it cannot be addressed directly.
To
program, put any decoder on a track or bench tester. Theoretically this
would work with any brand and model but probably best to support CV read back
so you can validate an address command was sent and received I suppose.
Connect
the ESU 54680 RailCom Transmitter Unit to the same red and black connections as this decoder.
Program
the desired address for the ESU 54680 RailCom Transmitter Unit into the decoder via POM (Program On
Main).
The ESU 54680 RailCom Transmitter Unit will see that address command for the decoder and accept it as
its address.
Once
removed from the decoder, the ESU 54680 RailCom Transmitter Unit can only be readdressed by piggybacking onto
another decoder and repeating the process.
